Silk Oil
Silk UV Oil is an innovative hardwood flooring finish that consists of 4 coats of oil cured under UV light. Silk Oil finish protects wood floors by penetrating into the wood and crystallizing in its fibres. Silk Oil forms a thin, transparent and elastic film on the floor surface. Silk Oil flooring is resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations and has excellent water-repellent properties.
While traditional high-gloss polyurethane finishes produce cool surfaces, oiled floors have a warm and natural feel, and are a pleasure to walk on barefoot. Silk Oil is one of few hardwood flooring finishes that protects the wood while preserving the beautiful look and textured feel or natural wood.
Silk Oil finish has a soft matte sheen, and is recommended for use in both residential and commercial interiors.
Benefits of Silk Oil finish
- Smoothness. Silk Oil finished floors feel warm and silky smooth under your feet. Walking barefoot on oiled floors feels incredible!
- Universal use: Silk Oil floors are recommended for residential as well as commercial use. Water repellent properties of Silk Oil finish make oiled flooring the perfect choice for lakeside cottages, bars and restaurants.
- Silk Oil is very forgiving. Because the finish is matte, small scratches and dents will not be visible on the floor surface, but will blend in with the natural wood grain texture. Thus, Silk Oil finish will easily disguise any small surface scratches or dents that result from dogs, children’s toys, lake sand or heavy traffic. In fact, additional scrapes will only further enrich the intense wood texture and will add more character to your floor over time.
- Easy restoration and repair. If cared for properly, oiled flooring will never need to be fully sanded and refinished. Silk Oil renewal procedure is simple and straightforward DIY procedure. Sanding of the entire floor surface is not necessary, as the Coswick Renewer Oil can be used selectively in areas that receive most traffic and that wear faster than the rest. Renewer Oil can be applied directly over the old finish. Depending on the amount of traffic, Silk Oil floors will need to be re-oiled every few years.
- Easy care and maintenance. Sweeping, light vacuuming, as well as timely clean-up of any spills is all that is required for regular maintenance. Avoid using wax or oil-based detergents as they can leave greasy spots and make the floor difficult to clean. For best results, use Coswick line of hardwood floor care and maintenance products.
