Floor Care Tips
Floor Care Tips
To reduce scratches and dents, attach adequate floor protection (such as felt pads) to the feet of all furniture items before placing them on hardwood floors. When moving heavy furniture, place a blanket or a scrap of carpet face down, under each leg; slide furniture carefully.
Keep shoes in good repair. If they lose their protective caps, they will dent the surface. Avoid high-heel shoes. Keep pet nails trimmed, paws clean and free of dirt and grease.
Use area rugs in heavily traveled areas, especially if you have a large family. Place rugs at all entrances, as well as by the kitchen sink and dishwasher. Avoid exposing your floors to direct sunlight. Exposure to sunlight can slightly change the shade of your floors. Periodically rearrange rugs and furniture to avoid discoloration from occurring.
Never use a wet mop or water to clean Coswick hardwood floors as this can dull the finish, permanently damage your floor and will void the warranties. Use Coswick Service Kit or products recommended by your Coswick dealer. Avoid using household remedies and all-purpose cleaners to care for your floors.
Remove spills promptly using soft cloth and appropriate cleaning product. We recommend using Coswick Cleaner- it has superb cleaning properties and cares for your floor by forming a thin, water-soluble protective film. Coswick Cleaner won’t dull the surface gloss and won’t make your floors slippery.
For interiors with solid hardwood flooring, maintain indoor humidity level between 45-55% all year round. To do this, set up air conditioning and air humidifier in your home. Air humidifier will prevent hardwood flooring from contracting during heated winter season. Air conditioner helps to prevent flooring planks from expanding during warm and humid summers.
For interiors with two- and three-layer engineered flooring, maintain indoor humidity level between 40-65% all year round. To do this, set up air conditioning and air humidifier in your home. Air humidifier will prevent hardwood flooring from contracting during heated winter season. Air conditioner helps to prevent flooring planks from expanding during warm and humid summers.
Regularly sweep or vacuum floors to prevent dirt and dust from scratching the finish. Use only brush of felt type vacuum head. Be certain that the wheels of the vacuum do not damage the finish. Regularly scatter rugs to remove dirt and grit.
