Discovery Gallery with Coswick. MUSIC BAND “RECHA”

29.04.2020Calendarkristavchuksa@coswick.org

Looking at the Sun

Don’t waste your time on useless things!
Common, people, common,
Love with everything you’ve got!
Let’s leave our fighting till tomorrow,
Let’s leave our fighting for truth till tomorrow,
Let’s leave our flags till tomorrow!
                                                    Recha

There are just a few of the Belarussian bands that have been around for this long. They have been performing for seventeen years. They have a unique style, image and a fan base. Many of their fans met at the concerts long ago and now come with their children. Throughout the years, group members changed, but the philosophy of sharing joy and making people happy with their music has remained. The soul of the band: Andrus’ Tokindang and the lead guitar, Kastus’ Lisecki have been there from the start.

“Music is not a drug, but it gives people hope, it takes you away from your daily problems and brings joy. We can’t always be in the top shape. Sometimes we need to step away, to look at the sun, at the sky, to smile at each other,” – was telling us Andrus’ who is a musician, poet, painter, tv broadcaster, songwriter and the soloist of Recha.

The Freedom of Choice

The musicians realized that the most important is the delivery of your music, how you present yourself. It counts more with the crowds than the perfect tune or voice. And Recha has excellent presentation.

Recha is considered as a pop, pop-rock, and folk-modern band. But the band members continually expand these boundaries with lots of experimentation and the freedom to choose the style.

“From the very beginning, we wanted to play all kinds of music. There is a Belarussian word, gurta; it means that you can be anything you want, you can be free. As a music band, we can be creative.” – Shares Andrus’.

Recha has something for everyone. Soul, dance, pop, rock, and Belarussian chanson, the last genre is defined by the band itself. Being so diverse, they can always adapt to the audience. They perform in concert halls and festivals; they play for charities; they tour Belarus, Russia and Europe.

“We are so lucky to travel all over Belarus. Not only Poland or Lithuania, but many wonderful places in Belarus. These types of concerts are unique because we are very close to the audience, to the people enjoying our music. These evenings are always very touching and emotional,” – tells us Andrus’.

Eye to Eye

Their first album Pierajnačyć (Reload), was recorded in 2015. “Music for the People” was its second title, which Andrus’ gave it. In the spring of 2019, Recha released its second album Žyvak (Zyvak); they consider this album to be exemplary; it sums up all their life’s work. Currently, they are working on the next album.

While being busy with the band, Andrus’ has the time for a variety of other no-less important projects, such as playing in a band Harotnica Mix, writing children’s songs, and painting. Leonid plays for bands Nagual’ and Malanka Orchestra, which are performing orchestras for theatre. Kostya writes electronic music, and Igor plays in an ensemble Svyata.

They are always positive, always on the road and always ready to meet their fans. They want to inspire their loyal listeners to look at the sun and to smile at each other.
